AVENGERS 97: The End of the Kree-Skrull War

And so Rick Jones’ role as a side character moves from Hulk to Cap to Mar-Vell, where he actually got to play superhero for a while

AVENGERS #95: The Kree Skrull War Part VII

I always loved the idea of a king–a supreme ruler–whose mere word shatters mountains.

AVENGERS #94: Furbies attack!

Wanda and Quicksilver are nearly killed by balls of hair. And I’m going to do something unusual here and include a second panel from this issue, just because it became iconic when it was used as the final frame of the previews for Captain America: The First Avenger.

I just can’t get enough Neal Adams.

AVENGERS #93: The Kree Skrull War Part Five

Proof that Neal Adams is one of the Greatest Artists of All Time.

AVENGERS #92: In which Vision wears a turtleneck and Quicksilver dressed like Hef

Vision plays chess.  Vision reads about chess.

This will become important soon.

But for now, on with the war.

AVENGERS #91: Kree Skrull War Part 3

Most people think of Marr Vell, Rick Jones, The Inhumans, and things like that when they think of the Kree Skrull War.  I’d forgotten that this was the first time Vision and Wanda hooked up.

AVENGERS #90: Kree Skrull War Part 2

Even in the middle of a 9-part saga, there’s time to run over Jarvis…

AVENGERS #89: The Kree-Skrull War

The first issue of the classic Kree Skrull War, a story that spanned almost an entire year of Avengers comics. I’m pretty sure that this was the first time a comic had taken this long to tell a single story. Certainly, it was one of the first “epics” of its kind. Absolutely amazing comics–and timeless, too.

I was going to do a big post on all the issues, but the saga spread over nine issues, so in order to post a panel from each issue it would be a huge post.  Instead, we’re gonna rapid fire each issue, all in a day…
